Council
Terms of use

An agreement,
kept short.

These terms describe what you can expect from Council and what Council expects from you. They're written in plain English and are intentionally brief. If anything is unclear, write in — we'd rather rewrite a sentence than win an argument.

Your writing is yours, the app is a small subscription, there's no account to manage, and anything you've already written stays on your phone whether or not you keep paying. The full text below is the agreement, kept short and written like a letter.

By using Council you agree to the following. None of it is unusual — it's written like a letter rather than a contract.

§ 01Using Council

You must be 13 or older to use Council. There's no account to manage and nothing to sign in to. You can delete the app and everything it stored at any time — no email required, no questions asked.

§ 02Your writing belongs to you

Everything you write inside Council remains your property. Council makes no claim to your journal entries, your council sessions, or anything you export. Council doesn't use your writing to train models, its own or anyone else's, and doesn't share it with third parties except as strictly needed to generate the council reply you asked for, as described in the Privacy notice.

§ 03The service

Council is provided as a thoughtful tool, not a guarantee. The voices are generated by a language model and can sometimes say things that are wrong, awkward, or wide of the mark. Council works hard to keep that surface small and to never let it be dangerous, but can't promise perfection. Treat the council the way you'd treat a thoughtful friend who only ever met you ten minutes ago.

§ 04What it costs

Council is a small subscription. Three free council sessions each month to find your footing — the cap resets on the 1st of each UTC calendar month. After that, a monthly or yearly plan unlocks unlimited sessions, raises the active-voice cap from three to six, and lets you rename and restyle each one. There's no separate free trial; the three free sessions each month are how you try it. The App Store paywall shows the current price. Cancel anytime from your Apple subscriptions. We won't quietly bill you, and your journal entries stay on your phone whether or not you keep paying.

§ 05Things you agree not to do

  • Use Council to harm yourself or another person.
  • Use Council to generate content involving minors in any sexual context, ever.
  • Reverse-engineer the prompts, extract training data, or scrape the service.
  • Resell, sublicense, or impersonate Council in any product or interface.

If any of this happens, Council may decline to serve those requests, and will be clear about why.

§ 06Liability

Council is provided "as is". Council is not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, or decisions you made after reading something a voice said. Council's aggregate liability in any twelve-month period is capped at the amount you paid for the service in that period.

§ 07Changes

If these terms change, Council will post the new version in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect, with a one-line summary at the top so you can see what's new without rereading the whole thing.

§ 08Law

Your local consumer law applies, and nothing in these terms overrides any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live. If something can't be sorted by writing to contact@artiomleo.com, the EU's consumer redress portal at consumer-redress.ec.europa.eu is one route, alongside your local consumer authority.
